Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Chief of Law Enforcement (CLE) and supervision of the Supervising Special Investigator I, the Special Investigator provides assistance to staff involved in background investigations; conduct and compile personal and professional background investigations for public safety candidates by interviewing employers, co-workers, neighbors, law enforcement officials, military personnel, members of the candidates’ family and personal references; prepares reports on findings; makes recommendations as to background findings. Make entry in CLETS. Conduct various special projects related to law enforcement for the CLE.

Working Conditions

  • DSH-Sacramento is located at an 11-floor high rise building.
  • This position reports to the Allenby Building in Sacramento. A hybrid Telework schedule, consistent with the State of California's in-office requirement, may be considered with prior approval from management. The incumbent may also be required to travel up to 10% throughout California as needed, with prior notice.

Statement of Qualifications
