Position: Music Expert

Type: Contract

Compensation: $67$75/hour

Location: Remote

Commitment: 20 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

Author review and annotate technical tasks to evaluate AI model performance on music and musicology problems.
Produce original problem sets grounded in scores harmonic analyses and spectrograms.
Write reference solutions and apply structured quality checks.
Provide clear structured feedback to improve AI training data quality and downstream performance.
Work independently and asynchronously with a flexible schedule to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

Must-Have

DMA or PhD in Music or Musicology or MM with 3 years teaching performance or research experience or BM or BA in Music with 5 years teaching performance or composition experience.
Working fluency in at least two of: theory history/musicology performance practice composition ethnomusicology.
Comfortable reading and interpreting scores harmonic analyses and spectrograms.
Clear technical writing; able to articulate reasoning step-by-step in written form.
