Head of School St. Andrew Catholic School Helena, Montana St. Andrew Catholic School, a thriving Pre-K through 12th grade independent classical Catholic school with 240 students, seeks a faith-filled and visionary Head of School to lead the institution starting in summer 2026. Founded in 1996, St. Andrew is the only Catholic school in Helena, Montana, and continues to grow in its commitment to Catholic faith, academic excellence through classical education, and vibrant community life. Nestled in the heart of Helena-the Queen City of the Rockies and Montana's state capital-the school benefits from a welcoming Catholic community centered around the stunning Cathedral of St. Helena. Helena is home to Carroll College, a diocesan Catholic liberal arts institution, and boasts a vibrant diocesan presence with over 3,000 active Catholic families. Position Overview The Head of School serves as the Chief Administrative Officer, academic leader, and spiritual steward, faithfully promoting the school's distinctly Catholic and classical mission. Reporting to and partnering closely with the St. Andrew Board, the Head of School advances the mission by integrating Catholic identity and teachings into every aspect of school life, forming students in what is True, Good, and Beautiful through classical education principles. The ideal candidate is a devout, practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Magisterium, who embodies virtuous, humble, and service-oriented leadership while cultivating strong interpersonal relationships and a culture of faith formation. Key Responsibilities

  • Mission & Spiritual Leadership: Articulate and advance the Catholic classical mission; direct liturgical and devotional opportunities; model virtuous living and servant leadership.
  • General Administration: Oversee daily operations, ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainable budgeting, implement Board policies, lead strategic planning, support fundraising and donor stewardship, manage facilities and technology integration.
  • Personnel: Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate faculty/staff; foster professional growth with emphasis on classical pedagogy; handle personnel policies, retention, and conflict resolution.
  • Curriculum & Instruction: Lead curriculum development and assessment in the classical tradition; oversee scheduling, teacher evaluations, and pedagogical standards.
  • Student Life: Supervise student welfare, discipline, evaluation, extracurriculars, and overall formation.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and represent the school in the broader community.
Qualifications Required:
  • Devout, practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Magisterium.
  • Completion of background checks, fingerprinting, Virtus Training, and Catechist Certification.
Preferred/Strongly Desired:
  • Master's degree in educational administration or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience; at least 2 years administrative experience (including financial management).
  • Experience with classical curriculum and Catholic education.
  • Proven leadership in curriculum development, staff management, team building, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and listening abilities.
  • Energetic, positive demeanor with a rich Catholic cultural formation and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Willingness to participate in after-hours school events.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary starting at $80,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Benefits include Paid Time Off, monetary health stipend, professional development support, tuition benefit for dependents, and 403(b) plan.
