Entry-Level Industrial Electrical Controls Engineer - $40,000 - $60,000 Annual Salary (based on experience).

Position Type: Full-Time

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our industrial automation team. This role offers hands-on experience designing, programming, and troubleshooting control systems and industrial automation applications. The successful candidate will work alongside senior engineers on real-world projects from day one.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the design, installation, and documentation of industrial automation systems. 
  • Program and configure PLCs and industrial control systems. (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent).
  • Install, test, and commission industrial systems on the shop floor and at customer sites.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues during operation, testing and installation.
  • Assist with mechanical assembly and integration.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, and project teams on integration tasks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and version control for all deliverables.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in applied science (AAS), Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 0–5 years of relevant experience. (internships/co-ops count)
  • Basic understanding of 3 phase power systems, Single phase power systems, 24Vdc control systems.
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical circuits, motors, drives, and sensors.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and work in industrial environments.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Working knowledge with Hand and Power tools: Socket Wrench, Drill, Jig saw, Etc.
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment: Digital Multimeter, Clamp Meter, Etc.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to assemble and disassemble simple parts and mechanisms.
  • Basic understanding of pneumatics. E.g. Valve operation, air flow, pressure adjustments.
  • Understanding of electrical safety: Lockout Tag out procedures.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, RSLogix, Etc.
  • Familiar with the integration of industrial Robotics and custom equipment design.
  • Exposure to industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet).
  • Knowledge of motor control, VFDs, and servo systems.
  • Understanding of safety standards (NFPA 79, IEC 62061, or similar).
  • Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or automation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn electrical control, basic metal fabrication and mechanical concepts.
  • Strong Communication Skills.
  • Willingness to perform inhouse maintenance on shop equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires time in both the shop and industrial settings. Candidates should be comfortable working around machinery, in environments with varying noise levels, and may need to climb ladders or work at heights for installation and commissioning tasks.
