Job
Summary Kutztown University invites applications for a Data Scientist in the Department of Institutional Research.
In this role, you will play a lead part in transforming complex institutional data into actionable insights that drive university strategic
decision-making.You will collaborate closely with academic and campus leaders, applying advanced data modeling, statistical analysis, and
machine learning techniques to support planning, policy development, and compliance reporting. A hybrid remote/in-office schedule is
available following an initial fully on-campus period.
- Implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms to
analyze large, complex data sets
- Design and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and validate predictive models
- Transform
raw data into actionable insights supporting university strategic decision-making
- Collaborate with academic and campus leaders to
identify data needs and deliver data-driven recommendations
- Create data visualization dashboards to communicate findings clearly
across the campus community
- Build and maintain curated data sets and self-service reporting tools for institutional data
access
- Generate internal and external reports on institutional data and outcomes
- Monitor campus accountability and
assessment measures, including state-determined performance metrics
- Support identification of institutional issues and analysis of
trends to inform planning and policy
- Ensure accurate, timely data for required federal and state compliance reports
- Maintain
a campus presence to support ongoing partnerships with university leadership
Minimum
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
- 1-3
years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a related field
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or
SQL
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of
statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning techniques
- Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to
detail
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
- Strong organizational and
project management skills
Preferred Qualifications - Experience working in higher
education, preferably at a 4-year university
- Familiarity with educational data systems and student information systems

- Advanced statistical analysis
